Highpower Rifle

FSSA Highpower Rifle

In Memoriam

George Riquelme passed away in November after a brief illness. George served as high power director for many years when, literally, no one else would. He was also state CMP director for many years, and coached countless rifle and pistol shooters. George's health in the last few years limited his activities, but he attended every FSSA board meeting, paid close attention to the business of the association, and gave us good advice and encouragement. We'll miss you, George.

An Event is Born

We are pleased to see the Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club (CFRPC) has announced a new three-day high power event they are calling the Lovebug Challenge. Please read about it in this special announcement.

Team Development

Ray Brandes, our newest rifle director, is our team development leader. His goal is to compete to win at the nationals. Our new Team Development pages describe Ray's plans, his background, and the skills he brings to this effort.

Juniors

Closely related, we are refining and formalizing our junior recruiting process. We'll have much more to say about that soon, and we'll be asking for your help to get the junior program ramped up. Stay tuned.

State Championships

Planning is already underway for the 2012 state championships. We are also looking into the possibility of expanding our match schedule.

Reduced Range State Matches

We would like to contact the high power directors at FSSA ranges around Florida to explore the possibility of sponsoring state matches at reduced ranges. These matches would provide state awards which we hope would give incentive to the many shooters who compete primarily on reduced ranges.

If you are a director at an FSSA club, and you'd be willing to work with us to develop a program for your range, please contact Jeff Stuart.

State-Wide High Power Match Schedules

I need 2012 schedules. If you want your club's matches listed on our Upcoming Matches page and Events Calendar. please email me.

Thanks for supporting our efforts.
